A landmark judgement of Supreme Court is going to change the existing scenario in health care facilities in India in a big way. According to the new apex Court ruling the screening test will also be mandatory for those students who have got MBBS degrees from a country with which India has a reciprocity agreement. It means if an Indian student gets a medical degree from a foreign country covered under the reciprocity clause and wants to practice in India, he or she could do so only after clearing the MCI's screening test. At present, certain medical qualifications of UK, Australia, Canada, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh are covered under the reciprocity clause.

Innovation is the key to any development. It is good to see that Karnataka CM has come out with an innovative idea of a two-child norm to boost the development and progress of the state. It is said that this step is the result of his recent visit to China, where he witnessed many impressive measures yielding tremendous results in the process of development. It's a known fact that China is strictly following the norm of one child since long time to enhance the pace of its development process and to ensure justified distribution of resources and facilities to every citizen.

Dear Readers, We often hear this comment-'law will take its own course'. Undoubtedly, rule of law must prevail in a democratic society. But what do we see in our country? Law is being broken here every now and then. For example, illegal mining in Goa is not only ruining its ecology and environment but costing the state's exchequer dearly. This type of illegal activities are the glaring examples of waning of fear and respect for laws. People indulging in such deeds hardly care about laws and its enforcing agencies. Situation becomes worst when the lawmakers are found guilty of violating laws. In the recent past we have witnessed several scams, one after another.

Congress- led UPA is back in power once again. The new cabinet under the leadership of Dr Manmohan Singh has started functioning with full force. Tough it's a jumbo cabinet and has many imbalances and deficiencies, expectations are very high from this new government. It is expected that this new government will focus its attention more on people oriented programmes than those reformations, which many consider is anti- people in nature and only favour the upper and richest strata of the society. Even those Congressmen, who give credit to Rahul Gandhi for their spectacular win, also concede that people friendly programmes like National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), Right to Information Act, National Rural Health Mission, Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Bharat Nirman and Forest Right Act (which gives scheduled tribes and traditional forest dwellers rights over land they cultivate in forest areas) have paid rich dividend in their electoral foray.

Dear Readers, The grand festival of Indian democracy, that is, parliamentary elections has finally come to its logical culmination leaving everybody surprised. When all the surveys and exit-polls were busy in predicting a neck and neck contest between UPA and NDA, voters of this country were silently but carefully choosing their representatives for Lok Sabha. They have shown that catchy slogans and attractive campaigns in media won't be able to deter them from making the right decision. Indeed, the voters have given a fractured mandate this time too, but they have virtually put an effective brake on unmindful bargaining by over ambitious political parties. Their verdict is pretty clear to their elected representatives-'either take your business seriously or be ready to be thrown out.'

Slowly and slowly the election process is reaching to its logical culmination. Political parties will soon get involved in forming next government just after the announcement of poll results. Focus will then be shifted on political permutations and combinations as well as political maneuverings. We all will forget the promises and tall claims made by various political parties during elections. None of us will question them for habitually overlooking their own promises after elections.

It has become a kind of ritual in elections that every political party starts talking about the welfare of people, particularly about those belong to Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes. All of them declare themselves champion of the causes of these sections of the society.
